Pavithra Attanayake
Senior Executive - PLANT
Pavithra (Pavi) Attanayake is a passionate environmental educator, conservationist, and zoologist from Sri Lanka. She works as the Senior Executive of PLANT at the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka (WNPSSL)- the third oldest conservation organization in the world. She has professional experience gathered over seven years in ecosystem restoration, environmental education, conservation, climate change, and sustainable development through her employment at the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS), Janathakshan Gte Ltd, and the WNPS. Over the last four years, Pavi connected with over 10,000 school children and 130 young community leaders through the WNPS Youth Wing to promote environmental education and climate action. Pavi has an academic background in biology, ecology, wildlife management, and conservation. She is passionate about adopting community-based conservation and citizen science approaches to solve pressing environmental issues. She is interested in understanding feline ecology and explores different habitats in Sri Lanka to understand their dynamics.
